Lately, I’ve been focusing on getting all my Back to School shopping done and it has lead me to search all over for ways that I can save big on everyday spendings! I already use coupons and cashback sites but what I never tried was discount gift cards.

Let me tell you, this is an amazing way to save BIG BUCKS and it’s SO simple. Once I show you how to save money with gift cards you’ll wish you had discovered this trick ages ago!
How to Get Discount Gift Cards & Gift Card Deals
I came across a website called Raise that sells discounted gift cards and I started to think of the potential savings one could have when they use gift cards. If we know that we are going to shop/eat at a particular place anyway, we might as well spend LESS money to buy a card that would pay for things we would already be purchasing. Am I right?

There are many different apps and websites that say that they have the BEST selection of discounted gift cards, but Raise had the best selection in my opinion! I love the sites layout and just how easy it is to buy and sell gift cards! I checked out 4 other sites and just was not impressed! Raise really caught my attention.

When you head on over to Raise, you will be able to see a list of different gift cards and the possible discounts available. Multiple people sell their gift cards at any discounted rate they wish.
Why Do People Sell Discount Gift Cards?
You may be a little skeptical as to why someone would re-sell their own gift cards, but there are so many people that get gifted a card that they will never use OR they use part of the card and realize that there really is just nothing else they want!

So that is where the reselling comes in! People realize that no one will buy a second-hand gift card UNLESS there is a discount, so that is exactly what they do. Users, who are people just like you and me, put their cards on these sites and you get to jump on and see THOUSANDS of available gift cards that all have different discounts applied to them.

You Can Sell Gift Cards Too!
As a Raise user, you can sell gift cards on the platform as well as buy them. So, if you have one or two gift cards you know you’ll never use, list them for sale at a discount. It’s really easy. This is a great way to make some quick cash and free up some space in your wallet!
Benefits of Buying Discount Gift Cards 1. Discount
The biggest perk is that you are literally getting FREE money. For example, you can buy a gift card to Old Navy worth $150 for only $120. That is $30 FREE. And you didn’t even have to work for it!

There really is no point in NOT taking advantage of these gift card deals. Especially if you know that you will be shopping at that particular store. IT IS FREE MONEY EVERYBODY! You do not have to pay a fee to use the site OR pay for shipping. It is 100% FREE MONEY.

Plus, there are options for just about every single store you can think of! They come in physical gift cards that are mailed to you (don’t forget, free shipping!) OR you can just get a card with a code that you can use online. The options are endless and you can pick whatever works best for you.

2. Flexibility
Many stores have rules that you can only use one discount per transaction! Well, with a gift card, it is just like paying in cash and there are no limits on other possible store discounts that could be used.

For example, you could start out with your $150 Old Navy gift card (that you only paid $120 for) and walk into the store to see that there is a 50% off clearance sale. You get to apply that discount too!! PLUS, you can still send in rebates to get EVEN MORE savings. By the end of it you will have hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and maybe have paid $50 for them.

If you aren’t into rebating and want to be, BE SURE to check out the app Ibotta! It could save you SO much cash!

3. Sister Stores
Many retail stores have sister stores that allow you to use other gift cards at their stores. Let’s take Old Navy as the example again! Old Navy is a sister store with Gap and the Banana Republic!

Let’s say that you already went ahead and searched out gift cards and you found the best discount being the Old Navy card! So you buy it! Now, you can use this card at ANY of those 3 stores!

BUT, be sure to be certain as to whether or not a store has a “sister store!” Gymboree and Janie and Jack are owned by the same company, but they will not accept each other’s gift cards! So be educated and know exactly what you are looking for!
4. Convenience
How about you put a goal to get on the Raise app once every 3 weeks. If you do, you can get familiar with what good discount amounts are available. Once you see a deal you can’t resist, you can buy the gift card.

Just because you have the gift card doesn’t mean you have to spend it ASAP. You can save it for when you’ll need it! You could stash gift cards so that by the time Christmas shopping season comes around, you already have enough gift cards stashed away that you won’t have to fret over finding the funds for gifts. You could also stash cards for birthday presents, wedding gifts, graduation cards, etc. and just have them on hand in your house to give out when needed!

Example of Saving Money with Raise Gift Cards
To further prove my point on how AMAZING this is, I will walk you guys through the process and show you how much I saved using discount gift cards!
Step 1: Head on over to Raise and pick your gift card
My kids were all needing some new athletic gear and backpacks for school and they LOVE to shop at Dick’s Sporting Goods. So, I got on Raise and looked at the possible gift card options. I found one gift card that was 9.4% off that was worth $135.98 and I only had to pay $123.25. This card was an e-gift card so I just got the code for it right then.
Step 2: Shop, Shop, Shop
I then let my older kids who needed things get on Dick’s Sporting Goods website and pick out the things they needed.

Here is what they picked (all prices are AFTER the discount has been applied and rounded to the nearest whole):
Under Armour Hustle II Backpack – $41.24 (Saved $15) Utah State Tees (2) – $20.39 (Saved $5) Nike Kids’ Grade School Revolution 3 Running Shoes $37.99 (Saved $20) Long Sleeve Graphic Tee $14.97 (Saved $5) Nike Boys Printed Shorts $25.97 (Saved $9) TOTAL: $140.56  Step 3: Apply Discounts! We started off having $12.73 worth of free product just from the discounted gift card from Raise. Right as I logged on, I got the notification that they were having a 50% off flash sale! We found a coupon code for 20% off fan gear so my college kids loaded up on gear so they can show their school spirit. One of my kids needed new tennis shoes and it was $20 off shoes. PLUS we got FREE shipping because we spent over $25. Savings: $12.73+$15+$5+$20+$5+$9= $66.73
That is $66 of savings!!! Honestly, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to to do this! You have no limits on the amount of savings available and can use your gift cards just like cash! You’d be crazy not to give it a try!

Check out Raise, download the app, and see what kind of savings you can have! It is totally worth your time.
